How fitness creators pricing models compare across five charging methods
Compare five fitness creator charging models on one scope, currency, period and risk basis, using dated supplier records without ranking them.
What to take away
- Compare pricing models only when deliverable, period, rights, review and exit terms match.
- No model is inherently cheaper; pick the charging unit that fits the defined work.
- The buyer carries more quantity risk under a time charge than a fixed fee.
- A recurring retainer total needs the full minimum term, not the monthly headline.
- Outcome payments need a verified eligible event, attribution window and stated rate basis.
- Fiverr charges 20% commission on fixed gig orders; Upwork takes 10% on hourly contracts.
- Patreon's standard platform plan is 10%; Stripe charges 1.5% plus 20p per UK card.
Fitness creators pricing models move different risks between buyer and seller. A fixed project fee, time charge, recurring commitment, transaction deduction and outcome payment compare only when deliverable, period, rights, review and exit terms match.
This unranked comparison was completed on 5 September 2026 for an England-based operation. It names five real charging models: Fiverr, Upwork, Patreon, Stripe and Amazon Associates. It excludes market-rate estimates and names products only where a current first-party page illustrates the charging unit. No quote, account, purchase, work or outcome was tested.
Comparison method
Use one statement of work: a defined content package, an adult audience, specified channels, an evidence standard and accessible versions. It fixes health and advertising review, rights, a correction period and a delivery date.
Evaluate each model on total commitment, quantity risk and cash timing. Also assess evidence, tax treatment, change control and departure.
Every calculation row must record
- GBP, unit and period
- Numerator and denominator
- Inclusions and exclusions
- Source and date
- Owner
- Sensitivities
- Stop or review event
Every calculation row records GBP, its unit and period, plus numerator and denominator. It also lists inclusions, exclusions and source. Then owner, sensitivities and a stop or review event. Where a ratio is absent, mark the denominator not applicable rather than leaving it unclear.

Fixed project fee: Fiverr gig packages
The commitment is the agreed base fee plus accepted changes and expenses. It also covers irrecoverable VAT and any separately priced rights or exit work. This suits a bounded package when acceptance and revision limits are explicit. A fresh exercise claim or reshoot can fall outside scope.
Fiverr is a public example of this unit. The platform charges sellers a 20% commission on each gig order, so the buyer's listed price is not the seller's net. Use the signed proposal as source. The contract owner varies revision rounds and channels. Stop the comparison if the deliverable changes before all bidders reprice it.
Time charge: Upwork hourly contracts
The cost is approved hours multiplied by the contracted GBP hourly rate. Add agreed expenses and reviewed tax. Time charging can accommodate uncertain research or health review, while the buyer carries more quantity risk.
Upwork is a public example of an hourly model. Upwork's standard freelancer service fee is 10% of hourly contract earnings, and the client pays the agreed rate plus payment processing. State which meetings, evidence searches, travel, edits and administration count. The delivery owner reviews at a set hour limit.
Do not treat an invoice label as an employment-status conclusion. HMRC's CEST guidance assesses tax status from the supplied facts.
Recurring subscription or retainer: Kajabi and Circle
Calculate the full minimum term, not a monthly headline alone. Include seats, storage, overages and onboarding. Add unused capacity and termination assistance. The unit may be a month, a user, a content item or a data volume, so a like-for-like total needs the same demand case.
Kajabi and Circle are public examples of monthly platform fees. Typical plans run from about $40 to $200 per month, depending on tier, seats and storage. The budget owner varies team size and usage. Reopen the model after a tier, renewal, cancellation or scope change.
Transaction or platform deduction: Stripe, Patreon and OnlyFans
Supplier pages show why the base differs. Stripe's UK standard pricing listed 1.5% plus 20p per successful standard UK card charge on the review date.
Patreon's fee record described a standard 10% platform plan for creators publishing after 4 August 2025. That figure sits on top of applicable taxes and payment, conversion and payout charges. OnlyFans takes a 20% commission on creator earnings.
These services are not ranked or treated as substitutes. Use the actual account terms, transaction mix and refunds. The finance owner stops a public-price scenario when custom terms, card type, currency, plan or fee changes.
Outcome-related payment: Amazon Associates
Define the eligible event, data source, attribution window and exclusions. Add refund treatment, correction rule and cap. A tracked subscription is not automatically caused by the content. The calculation numerator is the verified eligible amount. The denominator or rate basis must be stated in the contract.
Amazon Associates is a public example. It pays a commission on qualifying purchases, with category rates typically between 1% and 10%. Amazon's public rate for health and personal care is 3%. HM Treasury's Magenta Book explains the need for a counterfactual in causal evaluation.
Keep attributed events separate from incremental ones. Exclude health effects from the payment formula unless an appropriate independent evaluation and legal review supports that use.
No model is inherently cheaper. Choose the one whose charging unit fits the defined work and whose worst plausible commitment remains affordable. Reject any proposal that obscures mandatory charges, as the CMA's unfair-commercial-practices guidance addresses material price information and prohibited drip pricing.
Before you act
- Agree one statement of work before comparing any model.
- Record GBP, unit, period, source and date for every calculation row.
- State which meetings, edits and administration count under a time charge.
- Use actual account terms, transaction mix and refunds for platform deductions.
- Keep attributed events separate from incremental ones in outcome payments.
- Reject proposals that obscure mandatory charges or drip pricing.
- Check the named model's current public fee: Fiverr 20%, Upwork 10%, Patreon 10%, Stripe 1.5% plus 20p, Amazon Associates category rate.
Common questions
What should stay the same when comparing these pricing models?
The deliverable, period, rights, review and exit terms must match. One statement of work should cover the content package, audience and channels. It should also fix the evidence standard, accessible versions and health review. Add advertising review, rights, a correction period and a delivery date.
How should a recurring subscription or retainer be calculated?
Calculate the full minimum term rather than a monthly headline alone. Include seats, storage, overages and onboarding. Add unused capacity and termination assistance. The unit may be a month, a user, a content item or a data volume. A like-for-like total needs the same demand case. Reopen the model after a tier, renewal, cancellation or scope change.
What must an outcome-related payment define?
Define the eligible event, data source, attribution window and exclusions. Add refund treatment, correction rule and cap. The numerator is the verified eligible amount. The denominator or rate basis must be stated in the contract.
A tracked subscription is not automatically caused by the content, and health effects should be excluded unless independent evaluation and legal review support that use.
